My Story
Naquana Borrero, CFRE is the Founder and CEO of Bella Vita Consulting Group,
a consulting firm focusing on fund development and DEI in the nonprofit and political arena. The firm has clients across several sectors and clients have included both local and
national nonprofits, political parties, and candidates. In addition, she serves as Director of Development and Communications for Jazz in Arizona aka The Nash. As a member of the organization’s executive team and the agency’s chief fundraiser, Naquana is responsible for leading all philanthropic fund development and communications efforts for both the performance venue as well as the educational programming provided by the Southwest’s premier Jazz venue.
Naquana previously served at Community Legal Services, the state’s largest legal aid firm, where she was the Director of Development and Communications, overseeing all funding, outreach and communications for the organization, including the agency’s rebranding efforts. She was responsible for creating legal outreach partnerships for both the veteran and faith-based communities. Prior to that role, Naquana worked on behalf of low-income students, serving as Director of Development and Community Relations and created several programs in support of families experiencing homelessness as McKinney Vento Coordinator for Empower College Prep Charter School Network in Phoenix.
She is a Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) and holds certificates in Strategic Fundraising and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. Additionally, she has Master's degree in Nonprofit Management and two Bachelor’s degrees in Music, having trained and performed as a classical vocalist. Naquana is an active speaker on issues within the nonprofit sector including millennial giving, racial disparities in housing and homelessness, and diversity within philanthropy and the non-profit sector. She serves on the Arizona Housing Coalition State Task Force on Evictions and on the Board of Directors for Arizona Squash. She has served as the chairwoman of career services, IDEA- (Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility) and National Philanthropy Day for the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP)-Greater Arizona Chapter, co- chairwoman of
public policy for the National Coalition of 100 Black Women-Phoenix Metropolitan Chapter and is the current President of Young Nonprofit Professionals Network, Phoenix Chapter (YNPN-PHX).
Naquana is a proud member of Valley Leadership Class 40 and African American Leadership Institute cohort 10 and was chosen as one of Phoenix Business Journal 40 under 40 business executives for 2022. She is current 2023 finalist for the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce Athena Award. Additionally, In 2022 Naquana graduated as an inaugural class member in Harvard University’s Strategic Fundraising program at the Kennedy School. She resides in the valley of the sun (Phoenix) with her husband.
